Work on this prototype Angel began in 1977 by the King's Engineering Fellowship which first flew it in 1984. Designed for missionary work in remote areas, 4 aircraft have been built by Angel Aircraft Corporation. China has also acquired a license in 2013 to produce the aircraft there.
