The official opening of Holbrook aerodrome amid the postwar boom in general aviation. A slump in general aviation particularly in rural areas saw many small town aerodromes close. In the 1990s Holbrook council embraced the residential air park concept to bring new life to its airport. The high cost of hangar space at city airports and restrictions where recreational aircraft can fly has made Holbrook a centre of ultralight aviation with an active local club.
