Only one Verville VCP-1, a fighter prototype, was completed, and first flown on 11 June 1920. With its beautifully crafted plywood monocoque fuselage, it was fast at 251 km/h (156 mph). It was rebuilt as the VCP-R racer with a 660-hp Packard V12 engine. Rudolph Schroeder raced it in the 1920 Gordon Bennett race in France, but did not finish. Again rebuilt as the Verville R-1, it became sixth in the 1922 Pulitzer Trophy race. A second VCP-1, serial 40127, was not completed. Photo from: Bibliothèque nationale de France - Gallica
