854 is one of a number of Y12-II versions in use with the air force of Sri Lanka. It is parked here inside a hangar at its homebase Ratmalana and is operated by 8 light transport squadron. The Harbin carries manufacturer date 25 Dec'86 and was delivered to the Sri Lanka Air Force as CR854 in February. It was reserialled to SCL-3202 in 2010 and again to SCL-854 by Mar'12. 854 is modified for Air Ambulance missions in 2021.

This Harbin product was delivered to the Sri Lanka Air Force as CR852 in November 1986. It was assigned to 8 Light Transport Squadron "Constrant Service". The aircraft was several times grounded due to lack of spare parts. The Y-12 was reserialled to SCL-3201 in 2010 and again to SCL-852 by March 2012. Here the aircraft is seen again, grounded, awaiting parts of its engines.

The SLAF took delivery of two Y-12-IVs and nine (or possibly eleven) Y-12-IIs. Through the years, sadly three were written off.
