Sporting the Tunis-based GAOA n°5 insigna, this NC.856 wears the c/n 97 but is in fact a composite aircraft built from several frames. The second SA 330 ever first flew on the 3 November 1965, under the registration F-ZWWO, and did the official Puma flight testing campaign by the Centre d'Essais en Vol (CEV) the following year. This Alouette III entered service with the ALAT in April 1964. The museum's example never served in the army however, but was registered on the French civilian register as F-BFYP. It is painted to represent an aircraft serving with the 1er GALTDM based mainly in Chad, coded KAK, whose original c/n was 22-7490.
