Overview of the former base of MedFlight 3. Opened in 1986, this was the first remote medical helicopter base (ie, not located at a hospital) in the United States. "Grant Lifeflight" reflects the name of one of the two earlier medical helicopter services that were merged to create MedFlight in 1994. In 2014, the decision was made to relocate MedFlight 3 to a new facility in Meigs County, OH; that base, the Holzer Emergency Medical Facility Heliport (9OH6) would be opened in 2016.
