Technology Demonstrator: This Diamond E-Star is the world's first production hybrid aircraft. Within its unique drive system, the engine is not linked to the propeller. A 70-kw electric motor powers the propeller, using energy from a battery in the wings. It's engine produces energy for the electric motor, via a generator that recharges the batteries.
