The elegant NiD 42 C1 fighter differed from the earlier NiD 42 fighter and Nid 42S racing aircraft in having a small lower wing added. This prototype apparently participated in the Michelin Cup, a rally around most of France, flown by NiD test pilot Joseph Sadi-Lecointe. Having a wooden monocoque fuselage, the NiD 42 was only built in small numbers, but further developments with metal frames were quite successful.
