A very rare photograph. About 130 B-17G, nicknamed the Dumbo, were converted for Air Sea Rescue towards the end of WWII and some were used until the end of the Korean conflict in 1955. These heavy bombers were modified to carry a lifeboat, clearly visible on this photograph which could be parachuted near to downed airmen.
