The Stearman X-100 bomber first flew on 16 November 1938 according to one source, powered by uncommon P&W R-2180-A Twin Hornet engines. The original nose shape has been changed to a stepped nose here. The type was rejected, but the sole prototype was acquired by the USAAC as the XA-21 attack bomber. Rudder striping abolished in 1940.
