A group view of the Museo Aeroespacial de la Fuerza Aérea Boliviana. I'd dearly hoped to gain admission but despite attempts to make contact in advance, could not determine if the museum would be open. In the event on arriving at the El Alto gate, I was told that only groups of 10+ with a week's advance permission are allowed in. Huge disappointment, but at least I was able to shoot the heavies displayed outside during my 1992 visit while still in service. Since preservation, the presidential Electra TAM-01 (my photo here) has been re-marked as TAM-69 which it wore 1973/1975

Seen pulling off the gate, "Flagship Memphis" served AA from 2/60 until 8/68 when it was sold to Lloyd Aero Boliviano as CP-853. It later flew with the Bolivian AF as TAM-69, and with TAM as TAM-01.

This beauty was one of two aircraft at La Paz marked TAM-01 (the other a preserved C-47, really TAM-16). The Electra began with AA as N6134A "Flagship Memphis" in Feb 1960 and was sold to LAB as CP-853 in Aug 1968. She joined the FAB as TAM-69 in 1973 and became the presidential transport in 1975 as TAM-01. After many years derelict, now in the embryonic Bolivian AF museum at El Alto. I even enquired about buying the aircraft on behalf of a European party but was told it would never be sold as it is a national monument
