Export version F-6 of the KPAAF on display at Jeju Aerospace Museum. The Chinese-built J-6 was a copy of the MiG-19S that was approved for mass production in 1963, of which around 4,500 were produced. The J-6 was built with the long fin leading to the spine and has two cooling intakes under the stabilators, as opposed to four on the MiG-19S. It has a bullet-shaped housing on the tail for a braking parachute not found on the MiG-19S. The J-6 was powered by two Shenyang WP-6 engines producing 25.5 kN thrust dry and 31.9 kN with reheat, similar to the Tumansky RD-9B turbojets.
