The first prototype, rolled out in August 1964 and unveiled at the Paris Air Show in 1965 as CCCP-46191. Operated by the Soviet AF as "10 yellow" from 1967. Converted to An-22PZ for An-124/An-225 wing transportation in 1980; a third fin (from an An-26) was added later for the carriage of the outer wings. Reregistered CCCP-64459 in 1983 and last flew (as UR-64459) in October 1994. Stored in good condition until partially destroyed in March 2022 when the rear fuselage and tail section were torn off by the Russian invasion forces
