When Slovenia became independent of Yugoslavia it adopted SL- as its prefix, later changed to S5-. The country was subject to an arms embargo, hence all aircraft carried civil regs and paint schemes. This aircraft (the first Slovenian military aircraft) crashed a year later and was restored as a monument at Brnik airport.
