In May 1993, a contract for four E-2T (T standing for Taiwan) was signed between the US and Taiwan. It had been announced that these E-2T would be rebuilt E-2B fitted with AN/APS-138 radars. The first two E-2Ts arrived in Taiwan by sea on 3 Sep 1995, followed by the second pair on 23 Sep 1995. Although the four E-2Ts all have E-2B Bureau Numbers, ROCAF officials claimed that they were in fact all new-built Hawkeyes, with only few E-2B parts used, so the aircraft is equivalent to the E-2C Group II standard, with the more advanced AN/APS-145 radar. The RoCAF E-2Ts are assigned to 2nd Early Warning Squadron.
