The aircraft was pilot Nigel Lamb's mount for the Red Bull Air Races, and when photographed it had just been repainted by Mick Allen & Son Aircraft Respray and the sponsor's, Breitling, decals applied ready for the 2008 season. Tragically this aircraft was destroyed, and the 2 persons on board killed, when it crashed near Osteen, Florida, on 24th August 2022.
