The very friendly Sita Air provided an exciting ride up to Lukla, the third-highest airport in the world, giving me the opportunity to make a video which later went out via AirlineHobby. However tragically the sister aircraft in which I flew crashed on 28.9.12 and the company was closed down

One of a pair of M-28s operated by the (Royal) Nepal Army Air Wing. RAN-41 was delivered in 10.02 and this one in early 2004. Note the Islander behind, used on surveillance duties - again there are two but it is impossible to tell externally which is which as they carry no identifying marks

Acquired from Comair in 2000, ex N320CA, but up for sale by the time of this shot. The airline had temporarily suspended flying just a few days before when their only operational aircraft, a Fokker 100, was grounded. Taxiing out for the return leg to DAC after the first ever service to KTM by this private Bangladeshi airline. The MD-80 was originally a Korean Air machine and was obtained from Lion Air (ex PK-LMF) earlier that month. GMG had hoped to expand service to Singapore and the UK in 2010 but in 2012 the airline's operations were suspended

One of an initial batch of four Jetstreams delivered to Yeti from the US in mid-2006, clearly showing her American Connection. By early 2008 had been repainted in Yeti's smart green and gold colours and formed part of a fleet of seven J41s

Sita Air, Agni Air, Nepal Airlines, Yeti Air and Shangri-La Air were all serving Lukla at this time, the Dorniers and Twin Otters being met by Sherpas using enormous wicker baskets on their backs to offload supplies - the village at the start of the Everest trail is totally dependent on the air connection. Agni Air have since adopted a more colourful livery
