At rest in stunning evening light at Grass Valley Fire Attack Base, Nevada County Airport. Originally a US Navy Grumman S2F-3S, 152824. Converted to an S-2G. Withdrawn to MASDC, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1975. Transferred to the US Forestry Commission in 1996 as N511DF, then N520DF. Moved to Marsh Aviation for conversion to a turbine powered firebomber. Registered N426DF, an S-2G in 2001, an S-2F3AT in 2003. Issued to the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection, operating as Tanker 88. This photo is copyright © David A.
