The Hornet Moth is a two-seater touring aircraft from 1943 and was quite luxurious for its era. A total of 165 examples were built as either the 87A (with tapered wings) or 87B with rectangular wings). This aircraft was originally delivered to the Kuala Lumpur Flying Club in 1935 as VR-RAI (VR-R was the ICAO aircraft registration prefix used for Malaya between 1929 and 1963) and later wore the registrations; OY-DEZ (1st time from 1940 to 42), SE-ALD, G-AMZO and OY-DEZ again from February 1974.
