XN974 was the first production Buccaneer S.2 aircraft, making its maiden flight from Holme-on-Spalding Moor on 5th June 1964. It went straight to the RAE, Bedford, for evaluation and then to HMS Eagle for sea trials. Retired to the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington in 1991 and initially painted into RAF camouflage, but in 2016/17 restored to its authentic RN colours This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
