The Royal Danish Air Force realised very quickly that their 29 F-104s were not sufficient to maintain effective readiness, so they started searching for a solution. After withdrawing some Starfighters from service in Europe, the Royal Canadian Air Force offered the Danish (and Norwegian Air Force) their surplus machines. Thus the Royal Danish Air Force decided in September 1971 to buy 15 additional Starfighter CF-104 single seaters and seven CF-104D two seaters that would go into service between 1972-74. This is one of those 15 CF-104s. This photo is copyright © Alastair T. Gardiner, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
