Vietnam and Desert Storm veteran getting airborne at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024. This aircraft taken on charge on 3 Feb 1969 was the 85th of 114 OV-10As received by USMC. These served with VMO-5, VMO-1, VMO-4 and VMO-8 in the US. VMO-2 and VMO-6 operated the type in Vietnam, and 18 Broncos were used by USN to equip VA(L)-4 "Black Ponies" for riverine patrols along the Mekong Delta. The longer nose OV-10D was a Night Observation System (NOS) conversion with 1,040 hp Garrett T76-G-420/421 turboprops. This OV-10D Plus SLEP with four 0.30-in guns in sponsons and IRCM had the AN/AAS-37 FLIR. This photo is copyright © Arjun Sarup, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
