As a youngster growing up near Southend Airport, I well remember the excitement when Channel Airways received this aircraft, their first jet, in June 1967. With a posting to Heathrow a chance to be reunited with it came and it is seen here in service with BA, having been used by Cambrian and Court Line in the meantime. It ended up with Nationwide as ZS-OAF in December 1996 and was wfu at Lanseria in December 2001, succumbing to the scrappers in mid-2005 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
