First flew in January 1970 and delivered to RNAS Culdrose the following month as an HAS.1. Converted to HAS.2 in 1977. It flew in the utility role during Operation Corporate (Falklands War) and was returned to ASW standard in July 1982. It was returned to Westland Helicopters at Yeovil in April 1984 for conversion into an AEW.2 and eventually, in 2002, it was converted into an ASaC.7 at RNAS Culdrose.
