A participant, race number "2", in the 1971 London- Victoria BC Air Race, held to mark the centenary of British Colombia's incorporation into the new nation of Canada. The aircraft carries on its nose a map of the route under the title "Flight of the Viking". Among the logos of sponsors, the names of the crew are carried beneath the cockpit - Bill Snyder and Paul R Gilmore. The aircraft was ditched off the Greenland coast and floated long enough for the crew to be successfully rescued by a Danish S-61 helicopter. This photo is copyright © David A.
