Replica built by George Lucas on display at Planes of Fame Air Museum. The He-100 was produced in limited numbers to rival the Bf-109. Slightly smaller and considerably faster than the Bf-109E, it was not taken up by the RLM. Drag was reduced by a tightly fitted engine cowling, retractable tailwheel and evaporative coolers in the wings. Prototype V8 flown by Hans Dieterle set a world record of 746.6 km/h on 30 Mar 1939. D-1 production aircraft with a retractable radiator were flown to protect Heinkel's Marienehe factory. These were fictitiously called the He-113. None survived the war.
