XX948 was one of a large number of Tornado prototypes, this one being the 6th. Although it carries in RAF-roundel, it also carries markings on the tail, depicting the three countries that formed the Panavia concern to develop this aircraft, West-Germany, Italy and the UK. It is seen here well preserved with the excellent aircraft collection at Hermeskeil, where it was first reported in September 2004.
