This aircraft is a close-up of the nose of aircraft No. 384, which participated in the 1995 JASDF Combat Skills Competition. At that time, JASDF F4EJs were in the process of changing their surface paint job from the official Gull Gray paint job to the official New Air Superiority Camo paint job. This aircraft, No. 384, has a bluish-gray overspray applied over the standard Gull Gray paint job to resemble the official New Air Superiority Camo paint job. The air intake splitter vane of this aircraft bears a kill mark for an actual shootdown of a UF104J based at Gifu Air Base.
