Built in 1962 and operating only with 849 NAS, this Gannet was retired from active service in 1979 and put on display at HMS Dryad, Southwick, with the allocated Admiralty maintenance serial A2667. Sold off from Lee-on-Solent in 1982, it arrived at Newark in November that year and was displayed in the later 849 NAS black/yellow tail livery until a recent repaint into these earlier markings of the squadron aboard HMS Eagle around 1970 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
