Delivered to the Air Force in July 1970 as a CH-53C and later converted to MH-53M 'Pave Low', this was a much traveled helicopter with assignments in Thailand, Germany, UK, Philippines, and S Korea. It took part in the May 1975 SS Mayaguez rescue operation in Kampuchea, sustaining major battle damage to the engine, rotor blades and instrument panel.
