The USCG acquired 13 Dolphins from 1931. In June 1934 NC14205 was delivered as an 'air yacht' for William E Boeing, the retired founder of the famous aircraft builder, who named it 'Rover'. In 1939 it was bought by Charles H Babb Co and was one of five offered to the RAAF, of which only one was taken up. In 1955 it passed to the Civil Aeronautics Authority, Washington, DC as NC26 and by 1961 to Catalina Channel Airlines as N26K. Around 1972 it changed hands again and reverted to N14205. By 1995 it was donated to the NMNA where it was restored in USCG colours This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
