I first photographed this Sabre almost exactly 40 years earlier, when it was parked on the grass in camouflage and coded '146' outside Ljubljana-Brnik airport where it had been based. Alongside was the F-84G with which it now shares space in the Pivka museum. The peculiar IF-86D designation was apparently the result of a conversion for reconnaissance in the early 1960s. The restoration in silver colours was completed around 2016 This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
