Built in 1947, this Safir was registered as SE-BNL in 1948. It became the Saab 91B prototype when fitted with a Lycoming O-435 engine. Wikipedia suggests it first flew as such on 18 January 1949. Reg changed to SE-BNZ on 11 April 1949. Photo assumed taken that spring as the aircraft had a landing accident on 9 June 1949 at ESSL, and was changed to SE-BNL again as a Gipsy-powered 91A on 8 May 1950. To SE-BNZ again in 1951, still as an 91A. To SE-BNL for the third time in 1957. Gipsy engine replaced by a Lycoming O-360 in 1966. To LN-AAS in 2003. Photo from: Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)
