Tragically this aircraft was destroyed on 23rd May 1983 when, during a display by the Canadian Starfighters Air Demonstration Team at the USAF Rhein-Main Air Base Open House, the pilot lost control and it crashed and exploded on a local highway. Although the pilot ejected safely a family of 6 civilians was killed.
