VH-AVO crashed into Mt Willoughby, South Australia, on November 14, 1974. When Sydney airport absorbed the former Ascot racecourse after World War II, it surrounded a pocket of suburban housing. Over the next quarter of a century the houses were slowly demolished as needed for the airport. The ones in the background of this picture were the last.
