This is an amateur, homebuilt aircarft that was used to escape from Poland during the Cold War. In September 1971 the pilot took off from Krosno in SE Poland and landed in Subotica, Yugoslavia. After a few months in prison the pilot managed to reach Sweden and then Germany. After the end of the Cold War and lifting of the Berlin Wall the plane was restored to flying condition. On the 13th September 2005, the 34th anniversary of his fateful flight, the pilot donated the plane to this wonderful museum. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
