Nukulau Island was almost taxiing distance from the RNZAF flying boat base at Laucala Bay, which was 7km away. NZ4055 was sold in 1956 with the intention of being converted into a pleasure boat. It sat wingless on the owner's property until sold for scrap in the late 1960s.
