Sole prototype of single-seat Piper first flown in 1945 with a 37-hp Continental A40 engine, and presumably in 1947 with a 55-hp Lycoming O-145, as seen here. An earlier aircraft was known as the Cub Cycle and flown in 1944. A replica of the PA-8, the Carlson Skycycle, was built in 1995.
