Cornelis Haga became the first ambassador of the Dutch Republic to the Ottoman empire in 1612. Corendon Dutch Airlines and its older Turkish sister airline are both subsidiaries of the Dutch Corendon holding, established by Turkish-born businessman Atilay Uslu who started his career as a mechanic with Fokker.
