There were no fences to keep people out as the air race competitors arrived at Bankstown and even small children wandered freely among the aircraft. No one seemed perturbed and everyone went home intact. VH-UEF was not to see the year out when it plunged into the ground near Ballarat, Victoria, on October 31.
