The Jämi Flying Club designed and built a prototype of structurally simple basic glider Harakka I during the winter 1944-1945 by using an Soviet Antonov US-3 glider found at Petroskoi in 1941 as a basis. In all, 28 Harakka Is as well as 25 enhanced Harakka IIs and a prototype of the Harakka III were built. The aircraft type was used until 1964. H-56 was built in 1952. The Tampereen Ilmailuyhdistys used it at least until 1957.
