VH-POM was this aircraft's third Australian identity having been firstly VH-BIC then VH-TOM. It became VH-POM in October 1966. At the time of the photo it was plastered with its London-Sydney air race, race number and sponsorship stickers but the race had been run and finished. -POM was a starter at Gatwick on December 19, 1969, but it is not known if it arrived at Bankstown with the rest of the field on January 5.
