Two EB-47s were converted from 1951 to testbeds for the Wright YT49 turboprop engine, two YT49s replacing four of the B-47s' six jets. The first flight was not made until 1955. The XB-47D reached a speed of 597 mph (961 km/u), but the YT49 was not a success. Photo probably taken in Seattle. This photo was added on 21 April 2020, and has since been viewed 1012 times. |
