111 Squadron's specially-marked F3 now wears the inscription "O Bandeirante 3". That name was carried firstly by 111 Sqn Spitfire Vb BM634 during 1942, in honour of the British citizens and Brazilian nationals living in Brazil who raised money to buy Spitfires for the RAF during WWII. The aircraft crashed not long after it was delivered, but the name was later carried by a second 111 Sqn Spitfire Vb EP166. Thanks to Eduardo Cavalcante and to the RAF Harrowbeer website for the information.
