Taxying out for a flight to Warsaw we passed this line of aircraft UR-76778, UR-76705, UR-76717 and an unidentified Yak 42. The nose of 76717 is covered due to damage caused during an air show on 27th July 2002 when a Ukrainian Air Force Sukhoi Su-27UB performing low-altitude manoeuvres hit it. The Sukhoi crashed in flames into spectators, killing 77. Both pilots of the Su-27 ejected and survived but were later imprisoned for their negligence. UR-76717 was not broken up until 2012

This is a ramp view of the terminal building at Lviv International Airport. It looks little like any other airport I have ever visited.

Also visible in the background are a Yak 42 still carrying the registration CCCP-42527, an An-12 and another of the many An 24s that are present at Lviv.

On taking off from LWO this was the sight with 87 aircraft of various types visible in this shot alone. I believe that the blue and white Su27 in the compound at the bottom was the one involved in the world's worst airshow disaster on 28th July 2002, when 84 people were killed and more than 100 injured. The pilot and co-pilot survived and were each sentenced to eight years imprisonment for negligence.

Taxying in on Embraer 170 SP-LDA we passed this tantalising line of aircraft. UR-46249 is closest to the camera followed by another unmarked AN-24, then another, UR-46383, an An-12 UR-11346 and another AN-24 UR-46305

This was a real treat for me, an operational, a real live Il-18, something I had not seen for many years. This one carries "Ukraine West" titles on right-hand side and "Lviv Airlines" titles on left-hand side. Note also the three An-24s in the background.

This is a view of Lviv International airport from the public, arrivals side. The airport looks more like a concert or opera hall than an airport. Note also the trolleybus cables.

The aircraft does not carry Lviv Airlines titles but does have their logo on the fin.
