This interesting plane is pictured about to touch down on rw27. This is JAXA's "MuPAL-α" research aircraft, a multi-purpose aviation laboratory equipped with a fly-by-wire control system that allows it to simulate the motion of other aircraft. The aircraft has MuPAL titles on the nose and small 'Multi Purpose Aviation Laboratory' titles beneath the windshield.

When the sun went too far round at the end of rw27 for photos I explored some of the roads around the airport. It was a spectacularly unsuccessful trek for such a hot day with this chopper being the only result.
