The aircraft is registered as a PA-18A; according to www.supercub.org, "The PA-18A was designed initially as a specialized agricultural duster/sprayer airplane introduced in 1952; it incorporated as standard a chemical hopper and spray/dusting gear, but was easily convertible for general-purpose use, and when production of the airplane ended a total of 2,650 Super Cubs had been built.".

The emblem on the fin was originally applied in 1997 to commemorate the 60th, (Diamond), anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Air Force which was formed as an independent force in 1937.

This aircraft is shown as current in the online NZ register at the time of posting, but it was last reported stripped down for total restoration with Manukau Flying School at Ardmore in December 2020.

Delivered new 22nd Dec 1948 and became ZK-UFO Nov 1990 but displayed as NZ1802

Delivered new as ZK-BBM 19th Dec 1952 and became VQ-FAY Oct 1960, then DQ-FAY Oct 1971 and reverted back to ZK-BBM Nov 1976. Preserved Classic Flyers Aviation Museum in Tauranga.
