First flown in April 1957, the XL-160 was the prototype of an improved L-60 Brigadýr with an all-metal wing and tail. The military designation K-160 is painted on the fin. The L-160 version was not built in series. It is interesting to note that the Brigadýr was produced mainly as a civil, agricultural aircraft, with the name referring to communist working brigades.
