The first production F-117A, the aircraft crashed on 20th April 1982 at Tonopah, NV, during its maiden flight. Whilst written off and never entering USAF service the wreck was rebuilt into a complete airframe for static display using two of the redundant static test airframes. The cockpit of 'Article 778', and centre section of 'Article 779' were used along with the remains of 80-0785 and a wing from 82-0801.
