On 16 June 2022, it was announced that the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) will replace its four Lockheed C-130H/C-130H-30 Hercules transport aircraft by five Embraer C-390M Millennium. It is expected that the first C-390M for the KLu will be delivered in 2026. On 10 September 2022, a Brazilian Air Force KC-390, used by Embraer for demonstrations, landed it Eindhoven air base, the future home of the Dutch Millennium fleet.
